WATER TREATMENT home
Reaman Industries can provide Water Treatment Systems tailored to meet the needs of the most discerning users. Our declared aim is to meet New Zealand Drinking Water Standards, one of the most rigorous standards in the world!
We design, manufacture and install filtration, chlorination and ultraviolet sterilisation units to meet any requirements.
Our treatment plants require minimal operator attendance. The quality of the treated water is automatically monitored to achieve constant results.
For bottled water suppliers or tourist operators, we manufacture a Water Treatment System that provides sterile water at a minimum rate of 20 litres per minute. This low cost Reaman Water Purification Unit will appeal to operators in remote locations who wish to provide their guests or clients with a supply of safe drinking water.
Recently, a well known New Zealand cheese manufacturer required higher quality process water to meet its manufacturing requirements and commissioned Reaman Industries to upgrade their filtration system.
Raw water is pumped from the local river to a new Hydrocyclone Unit, which removes all the heavier solids. From the Hydrocyclone Unit, the treated water is fed to a bank of multimedia filters where the water is filtered down to ten micron. On discharge, the water is polished with a Multi Bag Filter Unit, which further filters the water to three micron quality.
From here, the water is pumped to the treated water storage facilities. Hence, prior to use in the cheese-making operation, the water is passed through an R.O. (Reverse Osmosis) to remove all harmful bacteria that may be present.
PROJECTS
CARTERTON DISTRICT COUNCIL KAIPATANGATA WATER SUPPLY
Reaman Industries Limited designed, supplied and installed a 200m3/hour Multi Layer Filtration/Bag Filter System, including Pipework and Valves, Programmable Logic Controller and Motor Control Centre etc, tested and commissioned the System.
This was the first of its type in New Zealand and was designed by Water & Waste Treatment NZ Ltd in a joint venture with Reaman to provide not only water of a quality to exceed the Drinking Water Standard of New Zealand, but to ensure the removal of water‑born protozoa including giardia lamblia and cryptosporidium cysts.
It is considered by leading world authorities on water treatment, that the removal of giardia from drinking water only requires the removal of particles greater than 5 micron and for the removal of cryptosporidium particles 2 micron and greater. However, this system includes a 2-stage filtration process to ensure the removal of 99.9% of all particles 1 micron in size and larger (the naked eye detects particles greater then 80 microns).
As a result of the filtration process, the water leaving the plant will not only be free of parasites but will be close to bottle water quality. The computer-driven plant is close to being fully automatic and requires little operation attention. The free chlorine residual and the pH is automatically maintained and the turbidity of the water is measured both on entry to the plant and after treatment. Flow is continuously measured and totalized.
This system utilizes Bruner multi-layered filters with a 10 micron particle retention followed by bag filters with 1 micron absolute retention to ensure the removal of all water‑born protozoan cysts including giardia and cryptosporidium. Disinfection and pH is fully automated with the latest chlorination and monitoring equipment from Capital Control Co Inc of USA and the plant operation is controlled by Allen Bradley PLC.
THE WAKAYA CLUB RESORT, FIJI INSTALLATION OF WATER TREATMENT AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT SERVICE
Reaman supplied a 10m3/hr Water Treatment Plant to produce potable water to the club’s water supply from a multiple water source. The water is filtered to 5 micron and softened through industrial water softeners at the end of this process. The treated water passes through taste and odour treatment processes prior to entering the Resort’s reticulation system. As part of the ongoing support for the Resort, Reaman Industries Limitedsupplied a supplementary Waste Water Treatment Plant to better handle the Resort’s waste water loading.
This Plant is based on the Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) Process, which is an extremely efficient and low‑cost operation very suitable for tourist resorts that are located remotely from urban support.
